Final Steering Committee meeting (Kozani, 8-10 April 2013)

The final Steering Committee meeting of WATERLOSS took place on 8-10 April 2013 in Kozani, Greece. The meeting was organized by the Greek partner “DEYAK”.  The main goal of the meeting was the assessment of the progress of work on Component 4, the demonstration of the DSS tool, as well as the discussion on project capitalization and remaining tasks and activities.

6th Steering Committee meeting (Nicosia, 17-19 October 2012)

The 6th Steering Committee meeting of the WATERLOSS project took place on 17-19 October 2012 in Nicosia, Cyprus. The meeting was organized by the Cypriot partner “Water Board of Nicosia”.  The main goal of the meeting was the assessment of the progress of work and workshop for establishing guidelines to complete the project requirements as well as the detailed discussion of ongoing components and links to the completed work.

Extraordinary technical meeting (Ljubljana, 24-25 July 2012)

An extraordinary technical meeting of the WATERLOSS project took place on 24-25 July 2012 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This meeting was organized in order for the partnership to discuss urgent technical issues that occurred and were essential for the successful project implementation regarding Components CO4: Development of a DSS tool for appropriate NRW reduction strategy and CO5: Demonstration of the DSS tool into specific WSS.  The meeting was attended by the representatives of the responsible task group as well as their external experts, and the discussion  focused on the way to integrate the already collected data into the Decision Support System.

5th Steering Committee meeting (Barcelona, 9-11 May 2012)

The 5th Steering Committee meeting of the WATERLOSS project took place on 9-11 May 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. The meeting was organized by the Spanish partner “Metropolitan Area of Barcelona”.  The main goal of the meeting was the finalization of Component 3:“Monitoring of the performance of Water Supply Systems (WSSs) and evaluation of Non Revenue Water (NRW)”, the progress of Component 4: “Development of a DSS tool for appropriate NRW reduction strategy” and the initiation of Component 5: “Demonstration of the DSS tool into specific WSS”.

4th Steering Committee meeting (Perpignan, 12-14 October 2011)

The 4th Steering Committee meeting of the WATERLOSS project took place on 12-14 October 2011 in Perpignan, France. The meeting was organized by the French partner “Conseil Général des Pyrénées-Orientales”.  The main goal of the meeting was the progress of Component 3:“Monitoring of the performance of Water Supply Systems (WSSs) and evaluation of Non Revenue Water (NRW)” as well as the progress of Component 4: “Development of a DSS tool for appropriate NRW reduction strategy”.

3rd Steering Committee meeting (Ljubljana, 31st May-1st June 2011)

The 3rd Steering Committee meeting of the WATERLOSS project took place on 31st May-1st June 2011 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The meeting was co-organized by the 2 Slovenian partners “University of Ljubljana” and “Regional Development Centre’’.  The main goal of the meeting was the progress of Component 3:“Monitoring of the performance of Water Supply Systems (WSSs) and evaluation of Non Revenue Water (NRW)” as well as the initiation of Component 4: “Development of a DSS tool for appropriate NRW reduction strategy”.

2nd Steering Committee Meeting in Caserta, 17-18 February 2011

The 2nd Steering  Committee Meeting of project WATERLOSS was organized on the 17th and 18th February 2011  in Caserta, Italy. The main topic of the meeting was the progress of  project activities relating to Component 3: ‘‘Monitoring the performance of Water Supply Systems and evaluation of water losses’’. During the meeting the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki  introduced to the partners the monitoring tool ‘‘Dynamic Database’’. This database will contain data on the pilot case study areas, as well as the International Water Association water balance and Performance  Indicator’s list in groups. All project partners presented their selected pilot areas and discussed the availability of existing data.

Kick-off meeting in Thessaloniki, 20-21 September 2010

The WATERLOSSS project was officially launched with the organization of the kick-off meeting. The meeting was organized and hosted by the Lead Partner, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and was held in Thessaloniki on 20th-21st September 2010. The main goal of the meeting was to achieve a common vision and plan the project’s future activities. All WATERLOSS partners provided short presentations  focusing on their organizations’ scientific capabilities, previous experiences, anticipated roles and tasks as well as their initial expectations from the project.

Project Description

The project will develop a methodology for control of non-revenue water in water supply systems, by implementation of the following:
- water balance in water systems using GIS-based maps;
-appropriate performance indicators;
- a decision support tool and a prioritized list of measures for controlling water losses, adapted to regional conditions.
